Casinos have been the backdrop for many popular movies throughout the years. The excitement of the casino environment is an excellent setting for these films. Without a doubt, these movies are must sees for any casino enthusiast.

Filmed in 2006, Casino Royale is definitely a top casino flick. One of the latest James Bond offerings, starring Daniel Craig as Bond, features a high stakes poker tournament in which a player is attempting to win money in order to pay some terrorist. Of course, this will not happen if the heroic Mr. Bond has anything to do with the matter.

Another casino movie is Croupier which came out in 1998. This movie is somewhat different than many other casino movies because it is from the perspective of the dealer. This movie takes place in London and portrays the gambling world as rough and cold.

The Cooler is another top casino movie. Release in 2003, this movie features William H. Macy as a major loser. He works for a casino and is able to change the luck of gamblers who are on hot streaks and cause them to lose. This uncanny ability is exploited by the casino manager played by Alec Baldwin.

Featuring a stellar cast, the Ocean’s 11 remake released in 2001. Oceans 11 is another not to miss casino movie. In this movie, a group comprised of eleven professional criminals stage a plan to steal $150 million from a vault. This money belongs to three major Vegas Casinos: the Bellagio, the Mirage and the MGM Grand. Ocean’s 11 is a movie full of action and terrific acting performances.

A fifth casino movie is Casino released in 1995. Taking place in Las Vegas, this movie is based on true events that occurred at a Vegas Strip hotel. The movie shows how the mafia helped to build the city in the beginning and then shows as its control over the city is lost. The casino featured in the movie is the fictitious Tangiers Casino. However, the story focuses on the Stardust Casino’s history. Many of the movie scenes were filmed within Vegas’ Riviera Hotel and Casino.
